Mein Lieblings-Apple-News Portal hat ein App. About time...
Unglaublich….
Once this app was amazing and always up to date and now the app fails to load article content. I am always met with the message, “problem loading articles, please check your connection and try again.” This persistent issue makes the app unless for staying updated with the latest news and so I have to fall back on Mac rumors or another outlet not that I don’t like the content from Apple insider but I want the notifications of new updates.
Love this app. Been using for years under subscription. The upcoming price hike is way too much.
Search today on “AirPod” or “firmware” and the results list is empty. Pull down to refresh and theatesr results are Apr 28. COLOSSAL FAILURE AND ABSOLUTELY USELESS. Google search engine surfaced the Sep 13 2023 article easier and when AI’s own search feature produced the garbage they spewed out - And I am paying the ridiculous subscription fee! No way! CANCELLED!!! More value is needed for $30/year. Especially when the subscript doesn’t even carry over to online reading. No ads and saving favorites is no justification for a $20 increase when the app doesn’t even get updated with needed improvements, editing of many articles and even seasoned writers is shoddy at best - a “fire and forget” approach to journalism, the Search feature is absolutely USELESS at returning even the most obvious results, and more than a few articles each month are published with only the first few lines or paragraphs.
I’ve been happy to support the writers/team. However to go from $9.99/yr to $29.99/yr without adding significant value? I just don’t understand the economics. (Economics BA’87). Anyways when Apple iOS just notified me of the increase I chose not to renew. I raised my hourly fee by 20% since 2019 which is less than the inflation my household has experienced. Really 3x price increase. I just don’t get it. Maybe if 2/3rds cancel they will back down on their price increase.
Perhaps Appleinsider app developers are monitoring some of the feedback. Most recent app version (released nearly 6 months ago), is buggy and continues to have issues opening. “Latest News” screen is blank with an “oops” error that content is not available. With the rollout of recent Apple products/software at the June WWDC, one would think that that an update would have been released to ensure things run smooth. Plenty of feedback offered earlier from other users, and it seems like there has been a pause from developers in supporting the app. Hoping this changes as Appleinsider has been a good source for news. From content coverage and speed of posting/publish, 9TO5Mac is another option worth checking out.
I enjoyed reading Apple News on this app. However it became worse than previous updates.
Been reading AI for years and it has been my “go to” source for Apple news. But a couple of things - * redesigned app - not great. The new “featured stories section hides new News. * the price increase on the subscription - are you guys insane? $9.99/year to $29.99/year as a year over year increase?!? You’re good, but not a 3x increase in annual price good. Buh-bye AI Pro, welcome back to regular AI. 🤯
The most recent update added a “featured articles” section at the top. I’m not going to scroll around to try to find other new articles. Now I open the app, see the same article and close it. Before the update, the AI app was my go to for Apple related info. If I had an option to just see all the articles chronologically (like a setting option) I would give AI 4 or 5 stars.
I didn’t realize for quite a while that there were even new articles. I just thought, man AppleInsider has gone downhill they stopped putting out any new articles. Just now I realized that if you scroll WAY down the page you will eventually come across new news articles. I’m not a fan. I like AppleInsider a lot but this update is not good
The old layout showing the most recent new articles at the top was better. The new 3.3 version shows the same “Top Story” and then then the same “Featured Stories” and then “Latest News” You know what they say if ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Happy to re-rate the App if changes are implemented. But for now it’s only worth two stars.
Why would I want the same “Top Story” to consume the top 50% of my display every time I open the app? This actually makes me read fewer AI stories, because every time I open the app, it appears at first glance like there are no newer articles. I know it’s because they can charge more for ad slots in the articles that are pinned to the top of peoples devices, but honestly this change is what has finally gotten me to delete this app and cancel my subscription. So thanks, I guess? Also, why do I have to swipe down to get out of a Top Story or Featured Story, but I have to swipe left to right to get out of a Latest News article? Did anybody even use this app before they launched it? What a mess.
It’s a good app but font on iPad mini is very uncomfortably small. Practically unreadable. Not everyone has perfect vision. Even with reading glasses and it with the biggest possible settings. To be honest font size adjustment doesn’t do almost anything. It shouldn’t be very difficult to fix and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone, so I don’t know why it’s still this way. Well it makes me read 9to5Mac more than AppleInsider
they simply do not respond if you request to delete data they have on you
The content is 80% earning referral links to discounted stuff. Very few actual news
Good content, although you can find most of it elsewhere. Annoying fake Facebook notification ads with flashing fake unread message badges ruin the experience.
This app looks awful on an iPad Pro with very small type and images. The layout is unattractive as well. I like this news source so I now only view it in a Safari tab rather than use this app.
Why did the widget stop working? Fix it
I’ve been listening to the Podcast for about five years and rarely miss a show. It’s informative and useful. The prognostications happen about half of the time, but they’re fun to listen to.
Disabled notifications because they got too spammy with promos.
Unlike every other app subscription I have, there is no way to cancel the annual subscription or turn off auto-renewal for this app!!! I even tried the app support link in the App Store listing for this app, but the page it opens has nothing on how to unsubscribe or stop the auto-renewal. I am NOT going to stand for being charged $10/year for all eternity. I’m going to contact Apple and let them know.
Love this podcast. I always learn something.
Please bring it back, or even expand it to show more.
The ads are very annoying while you’re trying to read.
Tacky. Very tacky. Why allow comments are articles if you are going to delete anything that doesn’t cheer on your inaccuracies? Inaccuracies is a nice way of saying lies by the way.
All you have to do is update your app
Doesn’t even load content
“There was a problem loading articles. Please check your connection and try again.”. This error has been showing up for the past 3 days.
App no longer shows anything other than error messages.
No articles load...was good resource but doesn’t do anything now.
It blows my mind that a business dedicated to Apple can’t manage to put together a simple iOS app... For the past three days it won’t connect to collect the stories BUT it can update the ads well enough. My connection is fine so it’s clearly another bug. Hopeless...
As others have stated, the app won’t even load stories any longer.
Now has error and doesn’t show articles!! Plus, when will you update the Watch app to use the Watch 4/5 screen size?? GET BUSY!!!! As others have said, the watch app doesn't display anything any more, and selecting images just brings up a blank page. How can appleinsider be considered a serious Apple destination if it's not professional enough to maintain its app?????? I do like the ability to adjust font size in the articles. It would be great if you add it for the comments too.
The articles for the app have stopped loading. There have been no updates for a year???
You would think an App called Apple Insider would have seen dark mode coming and have its app ready. You’d be wrong. Maybe they should make sure their developers read the site.
The Apple Insider application is a must have resource for those who like to keep up daily with the latest Apple News. The stories provided range from daily news activities to deep dive feature editorials on products, services, markets and strategies the company is taking that other tech and business centric may miss as well as reviews, product tests and more. The app also provides unique weekly stories such as crimes in the Apple world which involves citizens using or involving Apple products in nefarious schemes and activities. Apple Insider also provides information on the latest sales and blowout deals from some of the most well known websites such as Adorama, B&H Photo, Amazon and Apple itself. To aid in the shopping process the app also allows access to the price guide which can be helpful to see what retailer has what product at said price. The app also allows users to listen to the weekly podcasts hosted by Apple Insider. The app offers two versions which is a premium which is ad free and has exclusive features and the free regular version. Both are similar and provide a great value to readers whether you are shelling out money or not. Navigation within the app is simple allowing you to access from the left menu pane the latest news, reviews, favorites which contain saved articles, price guides, deals, community forums, subscriptions in case you want opt in to a certain version, notifications where you can customize alerts you want to receive and tips where you can send in Apple related news to the site. Users also have the option of using offline reading which is helpful when you are out and about with no connection. In case you want to go back in the archive to read articles from the past users can do a keyword search. The problem with that there is that there is a bug which causes the app to crash when you select an article. At least for me there is. The Apple Insider is a great app employing a Apple like minimalist clear white and gray design with content provided in a easy to read manner and options to tailor the experience to your liking.
Why pay for something that is offered for free??? iPhone app is free but if you have an iPad you hav to pay? What a load of crap!! Just go to their website and read everything there.
I first installed the app on my iPhone 8plys now I have it installed on my XS Max, The app works great, and I mean great. Only one small bug, when you scroll slowing the homepage it us a slightly noticable stutter... If you guys cab fix this it will be very appreciated. Thanks guys for the great work
Been a long time reader and decided to support them through their app subscription. They’ve expanded with more videos over the years, manage their forums very well, and give good objective reviews. Keep up the great work!
Logged in but I cannot write or read comments. Weird! Latest iOS 10.3.2 and iPhone 7 Plus. Revised review to one star only because I still cannot read/write comments and the developers don't seem to bother to respond to this. Now on iOS 10.3.3 and still cannot write or read forum comments. Crappiest support ever!!! UPDATE: I canceled my paid subscription because nobody seems to bother to help me. Now on iOS 12.0 and an iPhone XS Max but I still cannot read/write in the Apple Insider Forum.
You would think that the people who actually wrote an article about how amazing dark mode is Would update thre app with dark mode About time
Notifications do not appear for new articles or any articles for that matter. I even purchased the year subscription hoping that would fix the issue. I love Apple Insider. Thanks so much for fixing. FYI - I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and verified notifications are turned on for this application.
This is an absolute joke. There are tons of Apple related news sites and they all report the same stories, the same rumors and same reviews. The biases change and the words are different but they are all speaking to and about the same things and report the same stuff. Charging users of your app to view reader paginated versions of your website and pasting extra ads on there in such an annoying fashion that the user is left with two choices, pay an absurd subscription to remove the intrusive ads or delete your app and go somewhere else. Do your self a favor, go to Reddit, visit r/Apple and don’t pay $9.99, get more Apple news stories than you can ever dream of and save your money for something else.
Finally updated for iPhone X. AppleInsider is the one stop spot of everything Apple, reviews, how to videos, price guides you name it. My favorite app period.
Hi, the subscription restore button seems to be non-functioning. While I honestly can’t remember if I still have an active subscription or need to renew, I’d expect some sort of informational message once using the restore button (either “your subscription has been restored” or “time to renew”.) Thanks.
I love the Apple insider app and read every article. I have for years. Their content is also available on the web and some of it available via Podcasts but the app makes it so convenient. Someone in the industry with a computer science degree, I have a huge amount of respect for the technical expertise of the in-depth articles on technology surrounding Apple products and tangential industry vendors. The articles are well written, concise, to the point and when they are biased, they are very accurate and fair. In other words they are biased with factual basis for those biases if there are any. Overall everything is extremely fair and accurate. Also their price guides are indispensable. It takes a lot of work to compile all of the stuff from vendors and crosscheck and vivid detail. They are an indispensable go to when purchasing the categories of product or when returning your old used products for resale value. Thank you to the staff at Apple insider! Please keep up the good work.
Apple insider took forever to have 3D Touch support and they still to this day don’t have iPhone X support. It’s frankly embarrassing how behind they are for an Apple fan site worst fans I’ve ever seen.
Drops the Mic..
Can’t believe that they are so slow to update this pos app especially sad when they are part of the Apple community just boils down to laziness or Just flat out cheap...
How is there no support for iPhone X yet...?
